ESSAY
A Lifeline Broken

Lately, there many best selling books that have titles like "A
Person Who tells lies" or "People Who bother anothers" in Japan. There
may be many reasons why they are well sold, but I believe that many
Japanese feel being annoyed by anothers so often.
Thinking about it, Japan may have been the country of people who
bother anothers since its old days and all the time. Most of Japanese
(include me) are so lazy. Everybody's looking for good luck with less
effort.

When he or she is busy, He or she thinks "Oh, how I wish I could
have more time for myself. If I had such time, I could this and this
and this and ...,because I have the big talent for many things."
On the other hand, when he or she is free, he or she does nothing
but sleeping or only wasting time.
And, most Japanese seem to be rather selfish. I see selfish persons
who lost the objective point of view everywhere. About things that have
nothing to do with them, they can say "Imagine if you were he or she,
how do you think?". But, about things that have something to do with
them, they say "I don't care about others. I don't want to lose. I want
money. One who is right in the world is no one but me." with anger.

There was a poor case lately in Japan. A junior high school
student killed his teacher with a tiny knife at the school. Someone
said that he could not kill her, if he knew that she has her baby who
was just born. It's true. He had lost his imagination for her background.
I say it not only about this case, but also about the corruptions by
Japanes officials dancing on the headline of everyday's newspaper.
Though I make my life with "People who bother anothers" daily
in Japan, I'm not disappointed because I have no illusion about Japanese.
But, I feel blue when I meet lies on business. The last week, someone
said to me,"I will call you as fast as I can with no doubt." and
yesterday when the next time we met, he said "why didn't you make a
phone call for me?" I couldn't believe it.

On the other day, another guy said to me," I'm sorry. You wasted
about one month for me. I thought I had to pay you, though I didn't do
that. I stole your idea and things that you've done. To tell the truth,
I had big budget and we had a party after that project without you.
Don't charge me. Our account about it has finished. Trust me. I have
no idea to do you harm."
I didn't understand what he said.

I think Japanese language has no more meaning. The laziness, the
lack of imagination and emptyiness of Japanese have made the society
broken. Or I may say that the originally broken society which has
survived with imagination and words fell down at last. (end)
